Director Of Finance - Marriott Ghent

We have an amazing opportunity in Ghent! Join our team as Director of Finance. 

We are looking for a Senior Finance person who has a proven track record in hospitality.

You work with the Hotel General Managers and the Aimbridge team to oversee all financial aspects of the Marriott properties in Ghent, including the preparation of all budgets and forecasts, and management of the sales ledger and payroll.

At the Hotel level, you direct the financial operations of the hotel to ensure the security of hotel assets. You report to the GMs the financial state of the hotels and you make recommendations to improve hotel profitability. You serve as the primary contact for all hotel financial - and accounting-related issues with owners, Aimbridge and auditors (internal and external).

There are a number of key elements to being a successful Director of Finance, including:

  • Strategic Planning

  • Data Analytics

  • Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting

  • Knowledge of the USALI and Belgian Accounting standards

  • Leading and Managing People

  • Communicating with senior management and ownership

  • Brand Engagement

  • Managing Relationships and good communication skills

The Candidate

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business / Finance, a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience. Professional accounting or finance designation or certification preferred. Minimum of 3 years experience within a Finance Management role at Hotel level, ideally within a branded environment.

  • Proficient in English, preferably also in Dutch and French.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Powerpoint

  • Knowledge of Opera / Micros & Dynamics would be advantageous

  • Demonstrated ability to assess and understand a variety of internal and external economic and financial issues which impact the business, to analyse data and forecast future business trends, and to develop effective financial plans based on business assessments.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading and developing people in the finance team.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written to address all levels within the organization and the ability to gain consensus.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of finance, budgeting and accounting processes and regulations.

  • Demonstrated ability to scope a project and develop a plan of action, ability to influence others, present convincing arguments and deal with conflicting viewpoints.
