Working within the events team, this position has the responsibility of handling and managing groups and events for the Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel, from the enquiry stage to the execution (including invoicing and after sales). This position includes co-leading and assisting the events team on property in all aspects of the event sales process and furthermore be the liaison person for the hotel operations team on a daily basis. Position’s objective is to assist in delivering goals of budgeted revenues for the hotels. The Events Supervisor will demonstrate enthusiasm & provide consistently high level customer service, in accordance with all Starwood Standards & Programs.
Responsibilities:
Indicates additional responsibilities of the Events Supervisor in comparison to the Events Specialist.
Team:
Overlook and guide the day to day activities within the Events Team Selling
Fulfilling the responsibilities of a Departmental Trainer within the Event sales department.
Identify learning opportunities for the Events Team on property and follow up together with the Director of Events with relevant actions – cross training, action planning.
Conduct together with the Director of Events (half) yearly PMP’s for the Events Team. Monitor individual goals set for the Events Team during the year.
Departmental Liaison:
To ensure business block information is updated on a weekly basis & provide accurate updates to the Director of Events and present this at the revenue strategy meeting.
Develop and maintain close working relationships with operational departments by scheduling monthly feedback meetings and provide creative methods to improve customer service.
Liaise with Sales Team on any Corporate or Group issues, conversion and action accordingly
Sales & Revenue Management:
Be aware of overall product of direct competition of hotels to take into consideration when making competitive proposals
Customer Relationships:
Maintain effective and appropriate liaison with clients whilst on property for site inspections and events.
Event Sales & Planning:
Involved in preparation, implementation and compilation of data for the strategic sales plan together with the Director of Events, annual goals, forecasts and other reports as directed/required
Involved in developing rates, group ceilings and deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis.
Maintain knowledge of market, competition and customers and communicate to the Director of Events accordingly.
General Knowledge, Policies & Procedures:
To develop a good knowledge of Opera Sales & Catering & PMS systems including configuration in order to be a key user within the Events Team for the configuration.
