VACANCY
Financial Controller
Are you a financial expert looking for the next step in your career? Then the position of Financial Controller at the Rotterdam Marriott Hotel could be the perfect fit!
What will you do? (Responsibilities)
As a Financial Controller at the Rotterdam Marriott Hotel, you are the cornerstone of our financial organization. You ensure that our financial administration is always accurate and up-to-date, which is crucial for informed management decision-making. In this role, you are part of the management team, providing support and advice on both financial and strategic matters.
Your responsibilities include analyzing and monitoring financial results, preparing management reports, profit and loss statements (P&L), and periodic reports for the hotel’s owners. You are responsible for creating forecasts and budgets. Together with the HR department, you oversee payroll processing. You also focus on the future by fostering risk awareness within the organization, consulting with management and accountants, and providing proactive advice. You stay informed on financial, fiscal, and regulatory developments, ensuring the continuous improvement of our financial department.
As head of the department, you supervise and lead the finance team, which consists of four members: yourself, a Finance Coordinator, a Financial Employee, and a General Cashier. You ensure that your department always maintains control over all accounting activities. You report directly to the General Manager and work closely with the Business Controller (a primarily staff-oriented role within our organization).
Your workplace is in our hotel, located directly opposite Rotterdam Central Station. You work from your own office within an open-plan workspace, alongside other back-of-house departments. This setup ensures direct and efficient communication with operational department heads for maximum impact and efficiency. You also maintain direct contact with our owners.
What we like to see in you: (Requirements)
Bachelor’s level of thinking and working, preferably with a degree in hospitality or finance.
Experience as a (Assistant) Financial Controller (ideally within the hospitality industry) and ready for the next step in your career.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, G.A.A.P., VAT regulations, and HR legislation.
Experience with Opera and Exact Online is a plus.
Strong communication skills.
Affinity for automation and commercial processes.
Organizational skills and a high level of analytical ability.
Flexibility, proactivity, resilience under pressure, accuracy, integrity, and a solution-oriented mindset.
Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
When you join Marriott Hotels, you join a collaborative team of creative, dynamic people setting the pace in the industry. Find your place in an environment built on strong relationships where every associate is empowered to make an impact and valued for their contributions.
