A day in the life of…

As a Director Of Operations, you will report to our General Manager. As his direct report you will:

  • Assume overall accountability for the team and the hotel in the absence of the General Manager

    • Drive a great working environment for teams to thrive - connect departments to create sense of unity

    • Direct everyday activity, plan and assign work ensuring that the right staffing numbers are in place

    • Ensure that guest satisfaction data is analysed, plans are developed and implemented to achieve established goals

    • Develop and maintain great working relationships with key clients and outside contacts to increase revenue. Provide guests with hotel and local information to enhance their experience. Work closely with key business leaders, officials, and representatives of local community groups within the city to ensure constant high-profile exposure for the hotel

    • Perform Duty Management tasks as required.

    • Act as a central communication point during emergency/crisis situations; develop and maintain relationships with local emergency personnel


Based in the Marriott hotel in Ghent, you will be part of a family of passionate people who know that being the best doesn’t always mean working around the clock.


What do we need from you?

To be successful in this role you have a:

  • Successful track record of managing at HOD level within a hotel or hospitality venue

  • European Language Skills including fluent knowledge of Dutch and English are essential

  • Experience within a major global brand is preferred

  • Experience in relationship management with multiple stakeholders

  • Experience of working within a structured team environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate and engage effectively at all levels

  • Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Commercial insight

  • Effective influencing skills

  • Driven and determined to achieve results

  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic team player
